That's right! Walt Disney World is reopening! They've announced their dates and started revealing their plans to keep cast members and visitors safe. You can watch my full video on the subject below.
The parks will be reopening in two phases:
Phase 1: July 11th
Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopen
Phase 2: July 15th
Hollywood Studios and Epcot reopen
WDW has said there will be a soft opening for cast members. It will be interesting to see if any other groups (passholders or media) will also be invited.
Many thought the opening would be a little sooner than July, possibly late June. There is a rumor that it may be because they plan to open both U.S. parks at the same time. I hope that is that case, but we will just have to wait and see.
Reservations
Reservations will be required to get into the parks, whether it's through a ticket purchase or an annual passholder. The priority will be given to annual passholders first.
No tickets are available for purchase, or for the forseeable future. It will most likely be after the APs get their shot at reservations.
Previously Booked Reservations
All previously booked reservations for Disney World have been cancelled. These include restaurants, FastPasses, and other places such as Savii's and Oga's Cantina. This is most likely to even the playing field and to allow those with resort reservations to book these.
FastPass+
The FastPass system at WDW has been suspended. Even after the parks reopen, FastPasses wont't be available. They need the additional queue space to house the socially distancing guests.
Additional Changes
We will be seeing new signs around the parks explaining areas where you can or cannot sit or stand and also explaining the additional guidelines.
Relaxation Zone
There will be designated areas around the park where you can take off your mask. This will be much appreciated throughout the day. I am sure we will see additional social distancing measures here-even more so than the 6 feet.
Social Distancing Squad
I am most excited to see how this is implemented. I assume there will be at least one or multiple groups of cast members enforcing social distancing but in a Disney way. There's no way they're taking a straight forward approach. I wouldn't be surprised if it includes some singing and dancing.
