Thursday July 9th, Downtown Disneyland in Anaheim reopened! I am glad I was able to get the day off to attend, even though it was a hot day.

Before lockdown, I didn't spend a lot of time in Downtown Disney. I would meet up with friends a few times, but it was every few months. I do enjoy the Earl of Sandwich and Salt & Straw and you occasionally would catch me at World of Disney.

Obviously, the experience isn't the same as it was before the parks closed, it still felt wonderful to experience some Disney magic, especially with Disneyland still closed with no reopening in sight.

Here's a quick summary of the changes:

  • Masks required unless you are eating or drinking

  • Temperature screenings before security check points

  • Hand sanitizing dispensers are located near entrances/exits (all over)

  • Hand washing stations are all over as well

  • Cast Members are constantly paying attention to guests and reminding those of social distancing when needed.

  • Restaurants offer outdoor dining only

With all of the security and safety measures in place, I felt really safe in Downtown Disney, even more so than going shopping to Target or the grocery store. The spirits of guests and Cast Members were very high. I had some great interactions while I was there.
