It's official. After a year of the parks being closed and a lot of uncertainty, we now have a reopening date for Disneyland and it's right around the corner. The parks will be reopening on April 30th. It looks like all or most the rides will be open from Disney's announcement. They didn't list every ride but they specifically mentioned Rise of the Resistance, Incredicoaster, Peter Pan's Flight, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. We will also get to see the debut of Snow White's Enchanted Wish (formerly Snow White's Scary Adventure).
The announcement mentioned character appearances in unexpected ways but obviously at a distance. This will most likely be similar to the character interactions we will be getting at A Touch of Disney opening tomorrow. Because of the social distancing we will not be seeing parades, fireworks, or shows-anything that will draw a crowd at least for a while.
Obviously with the limited attendance, Disneyland tickets will be sold via an online reservation system which is again similar to what we saw for A Touch of Disney. While I hope the system will go smoother than ToD, I am not getting my hopes up. Also, tickets are limited to California residents only. (We don't know how this will be verified yet.)
Disney's announcement also mentioned that cast members and members of the local community will have will be the first to visit. We don't know what determines "local community" yet, but I am curious what that definition will be.
Finally, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will also be opening. The other hotels will be opening at a later date. Here's the Full Article if you want to read it in detail.
