A Touch of Disney Opening Day!

I was grateful to be able to attend opening day of the A Touch of Disney event in Disney California Adventure. It felt so good to be in the park even if the rides weren't open. I was able to vlog the event, so please keep an eye on my Disney YouTube Channel for the video!

The event ticket included free parking at the Mickey & Friends parking structure. It was so nostalgic to be able to drive and park in the structure. Even the parking was socially distanced, we were led to park every other parking space so you had some space between you and the party next to you.

I will say I took the tram for granted. The walk along the tram route was long and I never appreciated the tram more than in that moment as I knew the walk back to the car was going to be even longer. From the time I got in line for parking to the time I walked into Touch of Disney took a total of 90 minutes, thought I heard for some it took 2 hours. Definitely keep that in mind if you're going.

Disney Sounds

Once I got in, I got to enjoy the sights, sounds, and food. I swear the time flew by. I appreciated the sound track they had for the event. It was all new music-covers in different styles than the original songs. For example, they had a country style cover of Let It Go and a Hispanic style cover of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in Spanish. The soundtrack played a few times and was interrupted by a couple vintage-style 'commercials' which was entertaining.

Disney Sights

As for the sights, it was wonderful to be able to walk down Pixar Pier again, watch the sunset, and see the lights come on in Cars Land. I also got to see Goofy and Max try fishing with a rubber chicken, Sadness with her little sad waves, Mickey and Daisy on the Silly Symphony Swings, Donald dancing on a balcony in the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Mater and Lightning Mcqueen hanging out in Cars Land. Even if you were often far away from the characters, they still seemed to see you and I got to dance with both Max and Donald. They seemed super excited to see you, probably because not everyone was interacting from a far.

Disney Food

Finally, there was the food. Each Touch of Disney Ticket came with a $25 ticket for food and drink (excluding alcohol and some other items). I used mine for a quick lunch at Carthay Circle. There I got the twice cooked beef tacos. Normally I am not a fan of pineapple on tacos but they were very good.

The other items I got at the kiosks were:

  • Sweet & Spicy Wings (Golden Dreams)

  • Strawberry Rose Lemonade (Golden Dreams)

  • Lemon/Pineapple Dole Whip Swirl

My friends also got:

  • Monte Cristo

  • Mickey Pretzel

The time flew by so quickly and it wasn't long before the sunset and there was only an hour left at the event. I loved all the food I had. I am so grateful for this event to bring together the Lemon Soft Serve and the Dole Whip into the most amazing swirl. It was heavenly. I honestly can't pick a favorite from the items I got.

I was able to Vlog the event, so keep an eye out for the video. I will post it as soon as I can.
